Server Virtualization for Aggregation in the Cloud
Session Date & Time:Day 3 March 25 17:30pm EST (2.30pm West Coast)- (30min)
Keywords: cloud computing, server virtualization, aggregation, compute intensive applications, SMP systems.
Authors: Shai Fultheim, Founder/CTO of ScaleMP.
Abstract: IT managers are frequently faced with the challenge of doing more with less. While traditional server virtualization enables consolidation and allows data centers to run more workloads on less hardware, server virtualization for aggregation, a new computing paradigm, combines physical servers in an innovative new way to create large virtual SMP systems – systems with tens or hundreds of cores and up to 4TB of RAM – within cloud environments.

In this presentation, Shai will discuss best practices for implementing and using server virtualization for aggregation, as well as how aggregated systems can significantly extend the flexibility and utility of an organization’s existing cloud investments – which can help IT departments prepare for projects with unforeseen resource requirements and those with compute intensive applications.
