Abstract: Is it such a herculean task to manage the cloud to deliver what it is supposed to? Yes and No.

Yes, because cloud being an evolving trend, the intricacies is yet to be understood in total and hence managing the services and resources could be a real challenge.
No, because cloud is a new “avatar” of the on-premise Infrastructure and platform and hence managing the cloud will just be an extension.

However taking a holistic view of the cloud, one of the key tasks of any Service provider would be to monitor the performance of the cloud and ensure that the service levels as guaranteed are met. In fact, Service Management is one of the key paradigm of the cloud enablement as the success of adoption is measured in the way services (and the quality of) are defined, delivered and made available to business and user community.
